GALLIFREYATHON 2012 PROMPTS HAVE GONE OUT

OK - everyone should now have an email containing their prompts. A bit later than I'd hoped, but there we are.

If you don't have an email (or a PM) please let me know. If you do have an email, please reply to it and let me know you've got it - otherwise I will panic and bug you FOREVER.

If you've been sent an email full of prompts that you really don't want to do, let me know, but hopefully I've selected something that you'd be interested in writing/drawing/podficcing.

Also - quite a few people said 'I will write anything except hard core sex/beastiality/incest/etc!!!'

GUYZ- nobody asked for that. All is OK.

Yeah, but you notice how I chickened out on writing it. The only solution is to request it from poor unsuspecting Gallifreyathoners.

Well hey--you asked. One never knows with the internet. Or with Gallifrey fans. We are a kinky lot, after all. Just look at all the whips-and-chains Romana/Darkel BDSM floating around. And the Doctor/Brax incest. Though I suspect there's actually a very good fic to be had out of his fellow Gallifreyans treating Andred like marrying Leela is only half a step away from beastiality and, I dunno, doing whatever the Gallifreyan equivalent is to egging their house.

While I'm here: I have my assignment and all is well on that front.

There should be some Romana/Darkel BDSM. I mean - Romana with her crazy need to be in charge is obviously a narrative crying out for some BDSM - with whoever. I have read some Four/Romana and AU RomanaI/Romana II BDSM, but this is all (and was a little odd, because presumably Four... just didn't notice/similar). Dear, dear, fandom. What are you doing with yourself?

... I wonder if it's just because we're such a small fandom - without other people doing similar things first, it's difficult to think 'I should write some kinky Gallifrey stuff'. I mean, there is SOME sex in the fandom, but a small majority - even if we count prompts, rather than fic. Maybe prompts are different though because you don't want to give anyone who wouldn't necessarily be into your particular ship the task of writing some Romana/Darkel BDSM...

The thing that baffles me about Romana and the entire BDSM spectrum is how elated she seems to be whenever anybody ties her up in the course of their adventures. See the above icon and also the following:



I mean, that's happier than she EVER IS in the entire course of the Gallifrey audios. And yet Romana being into bondage (on the being tied-up end of things), just, I can't make it compute for my brain. I can justify it, in a "many people are in bed the opposite of how they are in life, and it makes a kind of sense that Madam I-Must-Be-In-Control would sekritly get off on NOT being in control" sort of way. But I find it much easier to imagine her insisting on being called Madam President in bed, frankly. Let's not even touch on her recent promotion to Supreme Leader.

I think the relative lack of smutfic absolutely is because we're such a small fandom. Partly, I think it's that there's NO sense of anonymity. In a good year, there are ten of us writing Gallifrey fic, and not only is it highly doubtful any of us will ever find an audience for our hardcore Hallan/Henzil (say that five times fast), but it's more difficult to write explicit sex when you know the names of every person who might possibly read it, imho. We are all acquainted socially and therefore have to behave more or less like our mommas brought us up to. Or something. But also, there are just SO many untold stories in the Gallifrey 'verse because there's such a small archive of existing fic, so there are lots of places left to write that don't involve sex.

Possibly the thing we need is a Gallifrey kinkmeme?
